Grocery hacks featuring Vons Grocery Delivery

This post has been sponsored by Vons. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Life is already a rollercoaster but with the holidays around the corner, it is a little bit more chaotic.

Check out my favorite grocery hacks (featuring Vons online grocery services) for keeping sane during the season of craziness.

START WITH A GROCERY BUDGET

It took me a long time to realize the importance of setting a budget. I used to shop blindly and be surprised at the final bill. (Has anyone else held their breath and hoped you had enough to foot the bill? Lol)

Once I started to do the below, I would average the amount I would spend and make that my weekly budget. Now it’s a game to see how much I can stay under.

ORDER ONLINE, GET IT DELIVERED

This is my favorite (and the easiest) part! Head over to the Vons delivery app or Shop.Vons.com to start your order.

Getting started is easy. Fill out the usual – name, address etc. Once complete, the first thing I like to do is reserve a delivery time.

Next, search for items on your list. Shop around for products and compare pricing. Remember to use time-saving services like Drive Up & Go at your local store or Grocery Delivery!

Lastly, check it out! *new* customers receive “$20 Off + FREE grocery delivery on your 1st online order (lucky! Lol). Click below to find these services at your nearby retailer!

MAKE A WEEKLY MEAL PLAN

This is something else that took some practice. I would have a bunch of groceries but no plan for meals. When it actually came down to cooking, I was already tired from trying to put the combinations together. At this point, we would just get takeout.

Now I set up a weekly calendar. Sometimes lunch and breakfast are added, but those are pretty much the same thing all week long (#consistency haha). Dinner is when we all come together, so we prioritize it as family time.

When it’s complete, we stick it right on the fridge for an easy no-brainer.

GET THE KIDS INVOLVED

I’ll be honest, when I first started our weekly calendar, I demanded PERFECTION. No one could touch it and it had to be ALL done by me. Everyone else’s handwriting was mediocre. Haha.

That was no fun, especially having little ones. I began to make our calendar on scratch paper and let the kids have a little creative freedom! They enjoy seeing their artwork throughout the week.

WRITE IT OUT

Now that you have it planned out, it’s time to make a list! The worst part of prepping is forgetting a key ingredient.

Our list not only includes the things needed for meals but it’s ongoing throughout the week to include things we run out of. From toilet paper to cans of beans, it goes on the list.

Pro tip: During the holiday season, holiday party goodies need to go on the list too! Don’t forget – class parties, work function, and family gatherings. It’s never fun to rush to get those items right before the event.

Disclaimer: I purchased these products and more at my local Vons, but you can also look for Drive Up & Go and Grocery Delivery services at many Albertsons Companies family of stores including Albertsons, Lucky, Pavilions, Randalls, Safeway, Tom Thumb, Vons, and Pak N Save. Visit the Vons website to find a store near you.

Online grocery shopping is my jam, especially from my favorite retailer.

It gives you the gift of time

No more grocery lines, more time with the kids

It gives you the gift of money

Budget = dollar, dollar bill y’all

It gives you the gift of peace

See you later chaos

Enjoy supermom!

I save so much money by meal planning, need to start home shopping though, less tempted by offers around the store

This is something that I need! I hate supermarkets and to be honest I don’t even have enough time for that! Would be nice having such a service here in Italy too! They tried it several times but it didn’t go well then they stopped!

I looked at getting my groceries delivered a while ago, but couldn’t justify the service fee and delivery fee, lol. It’s definitely something I will consider though when my husband and I start a family.

I haven’t gotten groceries delivered yet, probably because I live on a military base but it’s something I have been thinking more and more of doing because it’s so convenient. Your tips especially the one about setting a budget are great!
