HELLO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA HEAT WAVE!
I’ve come to a conclusion that this is just the new all year weather. HAHA

This month has brought scorching heat. Southern California has hit the high 90’s! That means my air conditioning has hit mid 60’s. Even though we’re nice and cool inside, doesn’t make it all rainbow and sunshine’s.

With the air conditioner on comes dry skin (yuck!). On top of that I take hot showers since I’m cold with the air conditioner. (There’s never an in-between with me lol).

So I’ve gotten creative on how to keep our skin hydrated.

1. DRINK WATER

I try to drink my half my body weight in ounces (and it’s a lot of ounces lol). Some days are easier than others but I’m drinking way more than I usually do no matter where I end. When I’m at work i tally my progress on a post it. If I am on the go, I note it in my notes section. Just prepare to potty a lot, but the benefits are worth it. Haha Family secret: we make our water, spa water! It helps us drink more throughout the day. We add our favorite fruit from lemons to strawberries, even oranges, then we chill and enjoy! I noticed having spa water handy helps our intake tremendously.

2. WE MIST WITH THAUMATURGIC BIO MIST

I had no idea what this was until I partnered with the Social Media Panel and Theralight. Amazon description reads: ‘Our skin’s second line of defense calls on HOCl, a natural compound found in our white blood cells to help fight bacteria and aid in our skin’s healing process.’ (Read more HERE)

I was skeptical at first and thought it was another gimmick, but to my surprise it went way above my expectations. My skin feels smoother, my pores are less visible and my make up went on without any creases (totally cakey pre-mist). Not only does it aid in hydration the skin, but it has so many more benefits. From sun burns to cut and scrapes, it’s got you covered.

3. HUMIDIFIERS ARE NOT ONLY FOR BABIES

When our boys were just peas in my belly I ran out and bought those cute little humidifier. I wasn’t exactly sure what they were used for, but I knew all the moms in the moms in the mommy forums were getting them. They were cool to look at and even cooler when you turn them on (elephant blowing smoke, cuteness! Lol) Pretty soon I learned that humidifier help keep things nice and moist lol. We keep it on when the boys are sick but also learned to keep it on when we run the air conditioner. It keeps moisture in the air and helps your skin stay hydrated. They even sell personal ones too! We keep a small thermometer that also gauges humidity so we don’t create a swamp in our home lol.

4. SLEEP LIKE YOUR BEAUTY DEPENDED ON IT

It’s important to go to bed on time and get a goods nights rest. When you sleep your body begins to reset itself. Your cells regenerate and all of that science stuff. It also balances the bodies pH levels, adds moisture to the skin and boost collagen. I add a mist of my Thaumaturgic Bio Mist for good measure! When I wake up my skin is soft and touchable without the dryness. Dr. Google suggest 7 to 9 hours of sleep with children needing even more. So get your early bed time on mama and wake up feeling refreshed.

5. LEAVE THE HEAT FOR OUTSIDE

I’m guilty of a nice, long, hot showers. I love scorching hot water and the warmth it brings. It brings relief to the pain in my back (darn epidural). Of course all guilty pleasures have their bad side. Hot water dries out the skin leaving it susceptible to flakiness. Cool down your water a bit and bio mist for the damage already done. Your body and skin will thank you later.

Stay cool and hydrated this summer without sacrificing your skin!
